Shot on analog film in 2020, this series documents the Barbican Centre during the pandemic — a monument of brutalist architecture suddenly emptied of its usual crowds. Amid concrete towers and quiet courtyards, small gestures of everyday life persist: a boy pops a wheelie past a "no cycling" sign, an elderly resident wanders the walkways with his camera, a couple sits close on the grass. Normally one of London's busiest cultural hubs, the Barbican became a strange, contemplative space — its raw concrete monumentality standing in stark contrast to the stillness of lockdown, where isolation and quiet resilience unfolded in the shadow of modernist ambition.
